Security Leadership Essentials for Managers
A security management course for the move from doing the work to owning it. Across ten weeks you build a security programme on paper: governance, controls, operations, people and budget, with the technical fluency to question what your team tells you.
Every week ends with a decision exercise. You take a position, write it up, and defend it to the group the way you will to an executive.

What you will be able to do
- Set out a security programme with named objectives, owners and a twelve month roadmap
- Choose a control framework and justify the choice to a leadership team
- Ask a technical team the questions that reveal whether a control actually works
- Take incident command, run a bridge and decide when to escalate
- Write an executive update that leads with the decision needed
- Build a job description, interview loop and onboarding plan for a security hire
- Set and defend a security budget with capital and operating costs separated
- Manage performance, workload and burnout in a team that works incidents

- Mandate, authority and the difference between them
- Mapping your stakeholders and what each of them fears
- Your first ninety days: listening, triage and one visible win
- Setting boundaries on the security function scope
What you need before you start
- Two or more years in a security, IT or risk role
- A current or imminent responsibility for people, budget or programme delivery
- Willingness to share anonymized situations from your own workplace
- Around five hours a week outside class for the programme plan and exercises
